Music is complete (see below). Next stage is trying to write the script / libretto --- call it what you will. Nine-ish. Three dollars. http://www.acadiacafe.com/

The desire of your presence is exceeded in intensity only by the following:

The beauty of Dazed and Confused's bass line, in spite of the ridiculous lyrics---e.g.: if the "soul of a woman is created below" then one could just as easily purport that the soul of a man is right there in tow. However, rather than being an emperical truth, it's more likely Robert Plant was just carelessly rhyming like I just did. And you can see how shameless that is.

The sense of bewilderment that would occur if all nails were ripped from the floorboards of Love, then surreptitiously mixed into one's birthday cake and served with a look of ambivalence.

Admission that if you are so bold to Let Love In you should maybe give it a chair to sit on and offer it some freaking tea.

The youthful redemption of Lennon's "Starting Over"

The overcoming and beautiful silence of snow

My desire for you to be well

Dave.

Brought the Cleophone into Cleo's third-grade class to let the children play. White noise makes the anxiety go away. There's a low hum coming from the basement, and it puts me at ease—even though my basement's instrumentation is limited to a furnace (and, of course, an inoperable pipe-organ made from the bones of generations of family enemies). But some basements 'round these parts are more generously outfitted—some basements, in fact, are downright crowded—with Hammond organs and Rhodes electric pianos and timpani and oscillating radios (and, of course, cow bones), all begging to be allowed to sing along with the low, rushing rumble of the furnace.

READ COMPLETE ARTICLE

Bearing Lester

The new musical combo LESTER is arriving soon with these songs:

Hate Ain’t Great
Honeycomb
Welcome
Six Feet Under Sad
Days of Thirty Duo
Hide of Frankenstein and Widows Teen
Salvadore Glue
Deranged and Dutiful
Goodbye
We’re Very Serious About Our Dating
Hawaii Joe Five-O
Consumption Twilight
She Told Me to Chill
When You Were Nine

All songs written between Oct 13 and Dec. 1, 2006 and lie nearly complete in Albatross Studio on 2" tape. In fact, how many musicians do you know who have invented an instrument?

Probably not many, if any. (Actually, we do have a friend who took apart his Washburn guitar to build an instrument but got lazy and now has neither guitar nor cool über-instrument. You may or may not know plenty of those people).

Minneapolis' musician David Krejci (Reverend Strychn Trio) has taken DIY instrument-making to the next level by breaking all the rules and ignoring modern musical devolution for the better. Now, a decade later, the electronic-effects wizard has invented the Cleophone, a 12-string instrument that sounds like a piano with endless sustain and objects stuck in the strings. His debut Cleophone composition crawls through various movements as the instrument is bowed, plucked, and struck like a dulcimer to create vibes and overtones resembling a faint buzz saw, dark wind chimes, and church bells on acid. www.cleophone.com

—JIM MEYER

Cleophone cd gave me nightmares -- First Review of Cleophone CD

The first official review of The Cleophone CD ...

Cleophone cd gave me nightmares.

So, on Friday or Saturday night, I threw your cleophone cd in when I was going to bed. The bits and pieces I've heard seemed really mellow and droney, so I assume good sleeping music. Not the case. It didn't help that we had just played with a Ouija board. Fell asleep right away, but 15 minutes or so later I kept waking up thinking I was seeing demon shadows flying across the room, but I couldn't wake up quite enough to see what they were. My girlfriend kept waking up and making scared noises in her sleep, too. On that note, great job with it. That must mean it's good if it can invoke demons. -MistahTesta

The Cleophone CD Release Show: OCT 10

Will perform at Acadia on Tuesday Oct 10 at 8PM in recognition of the new CD "The Cleophone" -- the first studio recording of the instrument.
